He put out his first album, Just as I Am, in 1971, which featured the hit "Ain't No Sunshine." More hits soon followed, including "Lean on Me" and "Lovely Day." Withers teamed up with Grover Washington Jr. for the 1981 smash "Just the Two of Us" before retiring from performing later that decade. Early Life and Career Born on July 4, 1938, in Slab Fork, West Virginia, singer-songwriter Bill Withers is known for such hits as "Ain't No Sunshine" and "Lean on Me." He is the youngest of six siblings who grew up in a small coal mining town. As a child, Withers had a terrible stutter, a speech problem that plagued him well into adulthood. Withers lost his father A miner, when he was only 13 years old. Four years later, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served for nine years. Withers moved to Los Angeles, where he started penning songs and making his own demo recordings. He later explained to Billboard that he started writing his own material because "I couldn't find any songs that didn't sound like all the others." To fund his musical efforts, he worked on building toilets for airplanes. His songs eventually attracted the attention of Clarence Avant at Sussex Records, and Withers landed a recording contract with the label... read more [...]
Stevie Wonder Superstition Steelasophical Steel Band Stevie Wonder Superstition Steelasophical Steel Band Stevie Wonder Superstition Steelasophical Steel Band Songs in the Key of Life, like some big Hollywood studio blockbuster, comes to us already weighted down with words, stabbed with exclamation points and wrapped — or is it shrouded? — in great expectations. Two years in the making, the album's imminent release was announced several times, and each time it was withdrawn to be haggled over, reworked, expanded and gossiped about until its release at the end of September. It's nothing if not ambitious: two records plus a four-cut "bonus" EP disc — 21 songs in all — complete with lyric booklet and embarrassingly detailed notes thanking everyone from his mother and father to rack jobbers and stewardesses. The excessive gratitude (including an alphabetical list of over 150 names, from Abdul Jabbar to Frank Zappa) stands in contrast to the production credits, which are typically spare. This is another personal tour de force: Wonder produced, arranged, wrote and composed everything here; he sings all leads and most of the backing tracks as well; and, though a number of stars make cameo appearances, the majority of the cuts list at most four or five other musicians besides Wonder and many list only him. Wonder confronts us virtually single-handedly, grasps our expectations and wrestles them to the ground. I give him four out of five falls gratefully, happily; were it not for his lyrics he might have won them all. Stevie Wonder AS Steelasophical Steel Band Stevie Wonder AS Steelasophical Steel Band Stevie Wonder AS Steelasophical Steel Band "As" is a song written and performed by Stevie Wonder from his 1976 album, Songs in the Key of Life. It reached #36 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Black Singles chart. The song implies that the love the singer has for his mate will never diminish, as he says that he will love her until the physically impossible becomes true. Stevie Wonder AS Steelasophical Steel Band The impossible feats include: rainbows burning the stars out in the sky, oceans covering the tops of every mountain, dolphins flying, and parrots living at sea, dreaming of life and life becoming a dream, day becoming night and vice versa, trees and the seas flying away, 8×8×8 equaling 4, this day becoming the last day, the Earth turning right to left, the Earth denying itself, Mother Nature saying her work is through, and "until the day that you are me and I am you." Jaco The Chicken Steelasophical Steel Band Jaco The Chicken Steelasophical Steel Band performed by Gary Trotman SandBanks Hotel Terrace Bar The Chicken is a cool funk tune composed by Pee Wee Ellis, saxophonist and important member of James Brown’s band in the 60s. The song is made famous by Jaco Pastorius, who made it his signature song. Jaco The Chicken Steelasophical Steel Band Jaco The Chicken Steelasophical Steel Band Jaco The Chicken Steelasophical Steel Band Jaco The Chicken Steelasophical Steel Band A 35-year-old performance from the late bass legend Jaco Pastorius is finally receiving its full release on Record Store Day. Jaco Pastorius: Truth, Liberty & Soul was recorded at New York City's Avery Hall in June 1982, and was partially broadcast on NPR, but this is the first time that the full set, featuring Pastorius' Word of Mouth big band and harmonica icon Toots Thielemans, has been made available. "Soul Intro/The Chicken" wouldn't be officially released until the following year on his Invitation album 1987: Jaco’s Final Year Jaco started the year by moving back to Fort Lauderdale with his girlfriend, Teresa. Although he tried to regain stability, the old demons of mental illness reappeared, leading to many strange performances and even short stints in jail. Everything came to its tragic head on in the early morning hours of Sept. 12, 1987, when Jaco went to a bar called the Midnight Bottle Club, where he was ejected for his behaviour. When he tried to kick the door back in, the club’s manager, a third-degree black belt in karate, hit Jaco several times. Jaco’s skull was fractured, and he suffered massive internal bleeding. Jaco never left the hospital. On Sept. 19, he had a brain hemorrhage and went on a respirator. His family decided to remove him from life support on Sept. 21 and he died a little more than three hours later, with Tracy holding his hand. Jaco Pastorius was 35 years old. His assailant pled guilty to manslaughter charges and ultimately only spent four months in prison. Jaco is buried in Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery in North Lauderdale and Jaco Pastorius Park opened in 2008 in Oakland Park. While his legacy lives on there, it’s even more present in the legions of bassists inspired to play the instrument in a new way — or to play it at all — after hearing the work Jaco created during his prolific, but all too short career.

He will be crying, to remember a love that one day he didn't know how to care for. He will be crying, to remember a love that one day he didn't know how to care for. The memory will be with him wherever he goes. The memory will always be there, wherever I go. Dance, sun and sea, and I will keep in mind that love makes one lose and find. I will be dancing the Lambada, to remember a love which for a day, an instant, was king. The memory will be with him wherever he goes. The memory will always be there, wherever I go. Lambada Steelasophical Steel Band Lambada Steelasophical Steel Band Lambada facts Do you remember the Lambada dance craze of the late 1980s? For those of you too young to recall it, the Lambada is a Brazilian dance for couples, which is generally danced with arched legs, with the steps being from side to side or turning, with a pronounced movement of the hips. At the time when the dance became popular, short skirts for women were in fashion and the dance became associated with the skirts swirling up when the female spins around. The song that launched the Lambada dance craze was this 1989 worldwide hit recorded by the French pop group Kaoma with lead vocals by Paris-based Brazilian Loalwa Braz. It sold over 5 million copies in 1989, reached #1 on eleven [...]

How to Choose Wedding Music for Your Ceremony | Steelasophical How to Choose Wedding Music for Your Ceremony | Steelasophical Do make it ambient Whatever wedding ceremony music you choose, make sure it’s ambient and comfortable for listeners. Consider the volume – you don’t want anything too loud – and make sure the pace is slow and calming. This will help keep your groom relaxed and give you a natural rhythm to match as you walk down the aisle towards him. Prelude Songs The prelude music will play while guests are entering and taking their seats. This music aims to welcome the guests to your wedding, and sets the tone for the rest of the ceremony, so be sure to choose wisely. Whether you prefer classical or more modern music, we recommend choosing tunes that have a romantic and upbeat feel—and yes, you’ll need to choose multiple songs as the prelude will last about 20 to 30 minutes as guests are arriving. A few options to listen to “One Hand, One Heart” by Leonard Bernstein from West Side Story, “Air on a G String”by Bach, and “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” by Israel Kamakawiwo’Ole. Wedding Party Processional Songs This is the music that is played while the wedding party is walking down the aisle. Our rule of thumb here is to choose music that’s neither too fast nor too slow. Select a song that has a rhythm that matches a natural walking pace. A few of our favorites: “Canon in D” by Pachelbel, “A Thousand Years (Instrumental)” by The Piano Guys, and “Ribbon in the Sky” by Stevie Wonder. . Bride’s Processional Songs After the wedding party has taken their places, there is a brief pause before the bride’s entrance. Traditionally, all of the guests stand up and a new song—typically one with a bit more drama—is performed. You can go in a variety of directions with the bridal processional, from something grand and traditional to a song that’s sweet and lively, but just be sure that it matches the magnitude of the moment. A few popular bridal processional songs include: “Air”by Handel, “Here, There, Everywhere” by The Beatles, and “At Last” by Etta James. . Interlude Songs While you don’t have to have interlude music during your ceremony, it may be necessary play music during a particular ritual or [...]
BEST EVER Wedding Advice from REAL Brides BEST EVER Wedding Advice from REAL Brides Steelasophical Weddings Music • Sound • Light To Vow WOW Mix Mingle Wine Dine Dance Call: 07540 307890 Email: Gary Trotman BEST EVER Wedding Advice from REAL Brides Make time together a priority. Budget for a consistent date night. Time is the "currency of relationships," so consistently invest time into your marriage. Always wear your wedding ring. It will remind you that you're always connected to your spouse and will remind the rest of the world that you're off limits. Remember that marriage isn't 50/50— divorce is 50/50. Marriage has to be 100/100. It's not splitting everything in half, but both partners giving everything they've got Make laughter the soundtrack of your marriage. Share moments of joy. And even in the hard times, find reasons to laugh. BEST EVER Wedding Advice from REAL Brides You may have already been advised to make sure to take some time for your partner during the big day. But try to make some time just for yourself, too. One of the things I found during the wedding was that from 7am I had no time to myself. There was always someone in my room, always someone who had question, always a well wisher and always someone ready with a camera. It can become difficult to keep energy levels up when you're "on show" for twelve or more hours at a stretch. I found myself wishing for a few minutes every few hours or so just to be able to go somewhere quiet and collect my thoughts / recharge my batteries / have a glass of water / check my lipstick or just be uninterrupted for a few minutes so I could then enjoy the day more. Like most Offbeat Brides, I've had a little love-in with nearly all my vendors. I simple cannot believe that they've taken some sketchy brief and come back with designs, flowers, decorations, etc., that completely surpassed my expectations. After the wedding I wrote each one an incredibly detailed thank you as I wanted them to be able to use my comments as a testimonial to share with other brides and grooms. If you really love your vendor, one of the greatest gifts you can give them is not just a letter of profuse thanks, but to also take it upon yourself to find a public site that rates said vendor and write something that could sway couples to call that company. I know it's not really in our job descriptions to act as their marketing departments. But as so many of them went out of their way for me, I am genuinely moved to want to make a difference to their [...]
