Gershwin's compositions spanned both popular and classical genres, and his most popular melodies are widely known. Among his best known works are the orchestral compositions Rhapsody in Blue and An American in Paris, as well as the opera Porgy and Bess.  He’s the richest composer of all time (when you adjust for inflation), so what did he do differently? In The Sunday Times this weekend, you'll find this year's edition of the Rich List - one composer who most certainly would've appeared on it in his day was the great George Gershwin - and this is why: George Gershwin is one of the eternal legends of American music. He was a prolific writer, (some say he wrote up to six songs a day) and his music has been enjoyed by generations of music lovers the world over. His work ethic certainly kept the money flowing in, but it doesn’t quite explain the massive fortune that he accrued in his short life. You see, Gershwin wasn’t just rich, he was filthy rich. He's been ranked in several surveys as the highest grossing composer of all time (adjusted for inflation), streets ahead of Verdi, Rossini, Haydn and even Handel. So what was the magic formula which led to such wealth? Firstly, Gershwin’s music was outrageously popular. In 1919 his first big hit, ‘Swanee’ sold more than 2 million recordings and 1 million copies of sheet music. His folk opera ‘Porgy and Bess’ was also an instant hit, touring non-stop for three years after its initial run.

Stevie Wonder Superstition Steelasophical Steel Band Stevie Wonder Superstition Steelasophical Steel Band Stevie Wonder Superstition Steelasophical Steel Band Songs in the Key of Life, like some big Hollywood studio blockbuster, comes to us already weighted down with words, stabbed with exclamation points and wrapped — or is it shrouded? — in great expectations. Two years in the making, the album's imminent release was announced several times, and each time it was withdrawn to be haggled over, reworked, expanded and gossiped about until its release at the end of September. It's nothing if not ambitious: two records plus a four-cut "bonus" EP disc — 21 songs in all — complete with lyric booklet and embarrassingly detailed notes thanking everyone from his mother and father to rack jobbers and stewardesses. The excessive gratitude (including an alphabetical list of over 150 names, from Abdul Jabbar to Frank Zappa) stands in contrast to the production credits, which are typically spare. This is another personal tour de force: Wonder produced, arranged, wrote and composed everything here; he sings all leads and most of the backing tracks as well; and, though a number of stars make cameo appearances, the majority of the cuts list at most four or five other musicians besides Wonder and many list only him. Wonder confronts us virtually single-handedly, grasps our expectations and wrestles them to the ground. I give him four out of five falls gratefully, happily; were it not for his lyrics he might have won them all. Find out what accolades and achievements your choice can truthfully site. Punctuality When booking a band, always make sure they are prepared to never arrive on time ... we as a rule aim to arrive at least 2 hours prior to start time, even though the client would be expecting us to arrive about 1 hour prior to start. This is important for a number of reasons 1. gives the client and venue peace of mind to see you arrive so early and set up well ahead of schedule. It gives them the time and mental space to concern themselves about the other million things that could go wrong! Breakdown Traffic Diversions Getting lost Client giving wrong address One perfect example I can recall, was being involved in a tyre blowout on the M4. I pulled the car over to the side of the road, but this was quite close to vehicles exiting the motorway at high speed. I felt this situation too dangerous to tackle alone, so called for the recovery service for assistance. They arrived about 90mins after my call, we emptied the car off all equipment to access the spare wheel, the blown wheel was replaced, car repacked and I was back on my way. By allowing a 2.5 hour earlier than contracted, I arrived at the venue more than 1 hour earlier than the client was expecting me. We even had an instance where the bride and groom had to change the location of their wedding last minute, but neglected to inform a number of the suppliers (including us), due to a falling out with the catering company [...]

Mono Mode: The two satellite speakers are connected top-on-top - thanks to the quick and easy slide connection system - and are then mounted on the subwoofer via a 25mm pole. Stereo Mode: Each satellite speaker is placed individually on a tripod stand (sold separately), further expanding the field of coverage. Alternatively, 2b Stereo Mode can be used to place one satellite speaker on a pole and the other speaker on a tripod stand. Double Column Mode: An es 503 system in mono mode becomes the master for a second es 503 system (sold separately) via the integrated balanced output channel.
