Hilles House is a famous arts and crafts masterpiece on the western edge of the Cotswolds escarpment with views over five counties – from the Severn Bridges to the Shropshire hills – built by Detmar Blow. The Blow family now offers a unique bohemian boutique wedding venue with its 350 sq. m Palace Yurt for up to 250 guests, and has a civil ceremony license for a 100. There is no accommodation in the house, but nearby village, Painswick, known as Queen of the Cotswolds, offers accommodation to fit every budget and a churchyard with 99 yew trees.
Hedsor House is an absolutely amazing place,’ according to Johnny Depp – which doesn’t even start to sum up the beauty of this Georgian house, designed by the architect responsible for Somerset House. Comes complete with its own half-mile-long drive.

The Gillyflower, at Elmore Court, Gloucestershire, was built and soundproofed with parties in mind.
Cowdray Park is set in 110 acres of landscaped gardens and parkland, Cowdray House has heaps of choice for your big day. There’s the magnificent Buck Hall (pictured), the Tudor Manor House or even the golf Clubhouse, plus 22 bedrooms for all your favourite people.
The Badminton Estate this is the Duke of Beaufort’s estate, and you can have your wedding toasty warm inside or in a marquee by the deer park. A set by Bunter’s prog-rock band, the Listening Device, is sadly not part of the package.
Goodwood – The Earl of March and Kinrara, heir to the Goodwood Estate in West Sussex, is v. good-looking. If you’re reading this though, you’re probably already engaged: oh well. But that’s not to stop you from getting married on the estate’s 12,000 acres, which, tbh, are even prettier than him.
Sorn Castle – How’s this for romance? When Lord Sorn married Madeline Moncrieff in 1923, he had a stained-glass window depicting an Edinburgh cobbled street positioned on the main staircase to remind her of her home town. Remember to point this out to your husband; it will make your honeymoon demands seem positively tame.
Belvoir Castle – They have a castle piper! A real-life piper who can, if you want, lead your merry gang from the reception to the dancefloor or rose garden or lake… isn’t that what you always dreamt of?
The ICA Nash and Brandon Rooms. There’s not much smarter than having your reception just up the road from Buckingham Palace. Except, perhaps, having it catered by the marvellous Arnold & Henderson in the divine Regency Nash and Brandon Rooms above the ICA. We’re talking the most fabulous seasonal British feast – sharing plates or three-course service – followed by a cheeky Welsh rarebit at midnight. And lots of columns. Inside and out.
