Cally Cardines

I am the lead on the Sportivate programme across Hertfordshire. Sportivate is a Sport England funded programme aimed at encouraging more 14-25 year olds to participate in sport and physical activity between 2011-2017. Projects are 6, 7 or 8 weeks long and are designed to attract the least active (doing something less than once a week) young people in our communities.

I work very closely with each Sport Development Officer who deliver Sportivate programmes in their respective district, with myself directly looking after East Herts, Welwyn Hatfield and Watford.
I am also the liaison officer for Sport Stevenage alongside Peter Simmons.

I work predominantly on the award-winning Satellite Club programme across Hertfordshire. Satellite Clubs run for three years and are funded through a Sport England initiative to make sport more accessible for 11-25 year olds. They create channels for young people to participate in sport at schools which encourages them to go onto join community sport clubs.

As part of my role, I’m the Lead for FE College work, organising the annual inter-FE Games and working with the College Sport Makers to create more sporting and physical activity opportunities for college students. I also work on the Women and Girls project with my colleague Jane Parker, assisting with the This Girl Can in Herts campaign and Moving Mums project.
