The Old Hall is a recently renovated Jacobean manor house, set in its own unique and historic estate of 3,000 acres overlooking the Fens towards Ely Cathedral. Since the Morbey family purchased the Oliver Cromwell estate in 1830, the estate has been developed by successive generations into a productive arable farm.
The present generation, Alison and the late Anthony Morbey diversified the house in 2010 into an ‘exclusive use’ venue available for weddings, events and Christmas/dinner parties. Bed & Breakfast accommodation is also available and now offering dinner. Alison plays a fully active role in the running of the business and enjoys developing new components to the business.

The Old Hall is a superb country retreat within a mile of the heart of historic Ely in Cambridgeshire. This recently renovated Jacobean manor house, with stunning views over lakes to Ely Cathedral, offers all that is best in English country house hospitality.

The Old Hall Ely is a privately owned, country house wedding venue, located in its own unique and historic estate of 3000 acres but just one mile from Ely in a beautiful countryside setting overlooking three ornamental lakes and Ely Cathedral itself.
The Old Hall Ely is renowned for its warm and welcoming atmosphere and is run entirely by the Morbey family, who have many years experience in hosting weddings.
We pride ourselves on being the opposite end of the spectrum from a hotel; to be totally exclusive, creative, flexible and personal.
And when we say The Old Hall is “exclusive use”, we really mean it: the house and gardens are yours for the day and night as well, thanks to our luxury Honeymoon Suite and guest bedrooms.
If your preference is for a civil ceremony at The Old Hall, we offer two different options: outside in our beautiful garden pavilion or inside the house in our cosy Grand Hall.
Our stunning Oak Garden Pavilion is set within a picturesque setting of the lower garden with the dramatic backdrop of the lakes and Ely Cathedral.
The quality of food is a priority at The Old Hall Ely. Consequently we have enlisted the help of our chef team to create food of a standard normally found in top quality restaurants.
The team are keen to work with you to create a menu exactly as you wish and are very responsive, with the expertise and experience to create your ultimate wedding feast, at extremely competitive prices.
You and your guests will be able to enjoy the exclusive use of our beautiful house and grounds, which is one mile from Ely railway station with its excellent links to London and the rest of East Anglia.

Tucked away one mile from Ely in stunning countryside, The Old Hall overlooks Ely Cathedral and offers ceremonies either in the house itself or outside in the award winning Garden Pavilion designed by George Carter, one of England’s leading garden designers.
Receptions are held on the terrace overlooking Ely Cathedral and the wedding breakfast is either in the dedicated marquee or in one of the two beautifully decorated dining rooms. There are 15 luxurious en suite bedrooms.
All the catering is done in-house by 3 of our dedicated chefs.
